Ross Swearingen,

Just when you thought that things were going to get easier, they didn’t. If we thought that closing a school or opening a school in times of a pandemic would be easy, running open schools in the times of a pandemic is much more challenging. We continue to look forward to providing our students with the best education possible. Our team here in Helendale is prepared for anything that comes our way. We have shown that time and time again through the adversity of managing, opening, or closing  schools, working during smoke and wildfires, providing education to all during political and personal unrest. This District stands ready to respond to any issue and we will always deliver our best. You can be assured of that. This year will be a challenge of navigating wearing masks, and the option of vaccinations, our district has prepared for the day when students can safely return to our campuses and we are here.

The American Dream has been a theme of this school district for the past nine years, and it remains the goal today. I understand that everyone’s dream is different, and it should be based on the unique experiences that each of us have. The year 2021 has been a year of unique experiences for all of us and each of us has responded differently. In Helendale School District one of our goals is to prepare our students how to respond. By educating the whole body we are preparing for the future of our world. We have found this year that this is a serious responsibility, and it is certainly not for the faint of heart nor mind.

Throughout the years of education we prepare the mind by teaching kids how to read, write, do math, explore science and study the past, as well as reason. As the years go by the reasoning becomes a greater focus as they use the skills we have taught to allow them to gain knowledge so that they can analyze and make decisions. We also train the bodies of our students through physical education and we train the minds of our kids so that they can stay balanced and emotionally respond effectively to all of the challenges that they may face in life.

If you are a part of our community, I hope that you are benefitting from the hard work of the Helendale School District staff. If there is anything that we can do to improve we would love that input. You can always reach me at [email protected] and I would love to hear from you. If you haven’t joined us yet, I invite you to give us a try. You won’t regret the day that your children became a part of our District. We can’t wait to educate!
