Gathering a few documents first makes the online application quick and easy.
- Proof of residency, such as a utility bill, lease, or mortgage statement
- Birth certificate or other proof of your child's age
- Immunization records (view requirements)
- Parent or guardian photo ID
- IEP or 504 plan, if your child has one
- Transcript or withdrawal form from the previous school, for transfers

We live outside the district. Can we still enroll?
In many cases, yes. Families outside district boundaries may apply for an interdistrict transfer, and Independence Charter Academy welcomes online students from a wider area. Call the District Office at (760) 952-1180 and we will walk you through your options.
My child turns four this year. Can they start school?
Children who turn four on or before September 1 can enroll in free Transitional Kindergarten at Helendale Elementary. TK gives your child a gentle, play-based introduction to school with a credentialed teacher. Call the school office to confirm eligibility dates for your child.
Do I have to finish everything in one sitting?
No. The Aeries online application lets you create an account, save your progress, and return whenever it is convenient. The school packet can be completed on your own schedule as well.
The PDF packet will not let me type or save. What do I do?
This almost always means the packet opened in your web browser instead of Adobe. Download the file to your device first, then open it with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader application. If you would rather work on paper, stop by your school office and pick up a printed packet.
How do I know my enrollment is complete?
Once you have submitted the Aeries application and emailed your completed packet, your school office will review everything and contact you to confirm your child's placement. If you have not heard back within a few school days, call your school office and they will check your status.
When does school start, and is transportation available?
Key dates are posted on the district calendar, and daily bus routes serve the community. Your school office can help you find the stop closest to home.
